This state park was established to protect the unique dune geology of the Lake Michigan shoreline. Visitors can learn about the dune formation, geological history and settlement of the area at the nature center. Picnic areas, walking trails and nearly 3 miles (4.8 km) of sandy shoreline provide an opportunity for families and groups to relax and enjoy the sunshine. Hiking, mountain biking, skiing and snowmobiling trails can all be found in this 1225 acre state park. There are two campgrounds consisting of 123 camp sites, 25 of which have electricity.
